This versatile 8-way leather dog leash is made from full-grain 9/10oz Wickett and Craig bridle leather. This type of leash is also referred to as a training leash, hands-free leash, or European leash. It has 2 swivel snaps on each end instead of a fixed handle. It has 6 ft, 4.5 ft, and 3 ft long configurations and a floating ring on one end to be used as a slip collar. It can be worn hands-free over your shoulder or used as a quick tie-out.
The hardware is offered in solid brass or nickel-plated solid brass (silver). The leather is a very durable, water resistant leather. The swivel snaps are high quality solid brass and the leash is hand-stitched using the saddler's method with Tiger Thread in a color that matches the leather. The edges are burnished so they become smooth and round and the leash is buffed with a layer of protective wax.
Recommended widths:
3/8" = up to 40 pounds
1/2 = up to 60 pounds
5/8" = up to 90 pounds
3/4" = 90+
If you need a leash to compete in obedience or confirmation, or if your dog is very well trained, then you can size down in width.
